Description

A delightful twist on the classic Italian comfort dish, transforming layers of pasta and sauce into elegant, bite-sized spirals with a flaky exterior and savory filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (14–17 oz, thawed)
  • 1 pound ground beef (85% lean, browned and drained)
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves (chopped)
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (24 oz)
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll thawed puff pastry into a rectangle.
  2. Mix browned meat, spinach, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Spread a thin layer of marinara on pastry, leaving a border. Add cheeses and meat mixture.
  3. Roll the pastry tightly into a log starting from a long edge. Pinch the seam to seal. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  4. Brush the top with beaten egg wash. Score the top diagonally about three-quarters of the way through.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and meat reaches 160°F. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
