  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 large egg (beaten with 1 tbsp water)
  • 1 tablespoon black and white sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F, cut pastry into rectangles, score borders, and brush with melted butter.
  2. Brown meat, cook onion and garlic, mix with seasonings and half the cheese, then cool.
  3. Fill pastry boats with meat and remaining cheese, fold sides up, and pinch seams.
  4. Brush edges with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly; rest for 5 minutes.
