Description
A comforting casserole combining tender shredded chicken and mixed vegetables in a creamy gravy, topped with a buttery crescent dough crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent dough sheet (or original crescent rolls pinched together)
- 3 cups cooked shredded chicken breast
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 cups frozen mixed peas, carrots, and corn (thawed and drained)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8×11-inch or 9×9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of chicken soup, whole milk, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and black pepper until completely smooth.
- Fold the shredded chicken and thawed mixed vegetables into the sauce until evenly coated, then spread the mixture in an even layer into the prepared baking dish.
- Unroll the crescent dough sheet and place it flat across the top of the chicken filling, gently pressing the edges against the inside rim of the dish. Brush the surface with melted butter and cut three 1-inch slits in the center to allow steam to escape.
- Bake on the center oven rack for 22 to 26 minutes, until the crescent pastry is deep golden brown and the filling bubbles actively around the edges. Rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
