- 1 large loaf Italian or French bread (about 16 inches long)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion (finely diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup fresh parsley (chopped (optional))
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Slice bread horizontally, hollow out the center, and save the crumb.
- Sauté diced onion in olive oil until soft, then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Brown ground beef in the skillet, drain excess grease, and return to heat.
- Stir in marinara, spices, reserved bread crumbs, and half the cheese; simmer briefly.
- Stuff the bread with the meat mixture, top with remaining cheese, and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
