- 1 package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 8 ounces cremini or button mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced small
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Brown the ground meat in a skillet, drain excess fat, and transfer to a bowl.
- Sauté onions and mushrooms in the same skillet until mushrooms are browned and dry; add garlic and spices.
- Combine meat, vegetable mixture, and 1 ½ cups of cheese; let cool slightly.
- Roll out pastry, spread filling leaving a border, fold edges, brush with egg wash and oil, and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake at 400°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
