- 1 pound lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
- 1 medium head green cabbage (about 2.5 lbs, cored and chopped into 1-inch pieces)
- 1 large yellow onion (diced small)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz, undrained)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Brown the beef in a large skillet, drain excess fat, and set aside.
- Sauté onions and garlic in butter, stir in flour to make a roux.
- Add cabbage, tomatoes, broth, and seasonings; simmer covered for 10-12 minutes.
- Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish and top with cheese.
- Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden; rest before serving.
