- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion (finely diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Boil penne pasta until al dente, drain, and set aside.
- Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil, then brown the ground meat.
- Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and seasonings; simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Mix ricotta, egg, and half the Parmesan; combine with pasta and sauce.
- Top with remaining cheeses and bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
