  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese ((divided))
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Blanch cabbage leaves in boiling water until pliable, then trim thick veins and dry.
  2. Mix ground beef, pork, rice, egg, milk, onion, garlic, herbs, and seasonings in a bowl.
  3. Fill cabbage leaves with meat mixture, roll tightly, and arrange in a 9×13 baking dish.
  4. Combine tomato sauce, paste, sugar, and water; pour over rolls.
  5. Bake covered at 375°F for 45 minutes, then uncover, top with cheese, and bake 15-20 minutes more.
