Description
Rich peanut butter dough meets a crisp chocolate shell in these festive holiday treats. They offer a smooth, sweet, and nutty texture balanced by dark chocolate.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter (standard shelf-stable variety)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened at room temperature)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon fine salt
- 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate melting wafers
- 2 tablespoons festive multi-colored nonpareils or sprinkles
Instructions
- Beat the creamy peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and fine salt in a medium bowl until a thick, workable dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 16 equal portions (roughly 1 rounded tablespoon each). Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten slightly and taper the top to form a flat triangular Christmas tree shape.
- Arrange the shaped trees on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 20 minutes until completely firm.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments at 50 percent power, stirring between intervals until smooth and fluid.
- Submerge each chilled tree into the chocolate using a fork, tap off the excess chocolate, return to the parchment paper, and scatter sprinkles across the surface before the chocolate sets. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to harden completely.
