  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced bell pepper and onion for about 5 minutes until softened; set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  4. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan.
  5. Layer with 4 slices of provolone cheese followed by the sautéed vegetables.
  6. Cover with the remaining meat mixture and press down firmly.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes; add remaining cheese on top in the last 5 minutes until melted.
