- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center, add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle about half an inch thick, and cut into strips.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place breadsticks on parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with olive oil, sprinkle with cheese and Italian seasoning, then bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
