  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1½ teaspoons chicken hamburger seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese (shredded, divided)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut off the tops of the onions and hollow them out using a sharp knife and spoon.
  3. In a cast iron skillet, melt butter over medium heat and caramelize two chopped onion cores until golden brown (about 15 minutes).
  4. In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked onion mixture, salt, seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, and half of the Gruyere cheese.
  5. Stuff each hollowed onion with the beef mixture and place upright on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Drizzle remaining olive oil over each stuffed onion and bake for about 30 minutes.
  7. Add remaining Gruyere cheese on top and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes until melted.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
