  • 6 cups sugar
  • 6 cups water

Instructions

  1. Wash crab apples, remove stems and blossom ends, and cut in half.
  2. In a large pot, combine crab apples and water; bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Lightly mash the apples with a potato masher.
  4. Strain the mixture through cheesecloth and allow it to drip for 2-3 hours.
  5. In a clean pot, combine the strained juice with sugar; bring to a boil until it reaches 220 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Fill sterilized mason jars with jelly, leaving 3/4 inch headspace.
  7. Seal jars and process in a pressure canner according to instructions.
